On April 7, 2017, the School of the Hamburg Ballet will guest at the "Gala des Écoles de Danse du XXIE Siècle" in the Palais Garnier in Paris. Six students from the Theater Classes VII and VIII will present excerpts from John Neumeier's ballet "Bach Suite 2". This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Paris Opera Ballet School’s annual performances. They enable the young artists to discover the major works of the repertoire while being introduced to the great masters of music. In addition to the School of the Hamburg Ballet further guests will be the Vaganova Academy, the Royal Ballet School, the San Francisco Ballet School, Canada's National Ballet School and the John Cranko Ballet School – Stuttgart Ballet. As a follow-up to the Tricentennial celebrations, the school is organising another “Gala des Écoles” enabling students from different institutions to work together. A number of events, lectures, and masterclasses are planned during the week leading up to the performance.
